NYRP Youth Coaches Recruitment and Selection

NYRP Youth Coaches Recruitment and Selection

As part of our commitment to providing high-quality rugby and life skills coaching to young people in our community, the Manila Nomads Rugby Club, in partnership with the Philippines Rugby Football Union and ChildFund Rugby, held a recruitment and selection process to identify the best candidates for our Youth Development Coach positions.

Starting in early January, NYRP leaders and Nomads volunteers began recruiting online and on the ground for 4-6 male and 4-6 female Youth Development Coaches. Our selection process included a Coach Screening Activity held on January 22 at the Barangay Carmona City Hall in Makati, where we invited all applicants to come and showcase their skills and abilities.

The screening activity was designed to help us get to know each applicant and determine who would be the best fit for our program. It included group work, sports and games, and group discussions about rugby and some real-life issues that young people face.

A group of Nomads volunteers, with the assistance of ChildFund and PRFU representatives, organized and facilitated the activities, as well as observed and graded the applicants using a set standard and scorecard. After the activity, they deliberated on the results to determine who passed and who failed.

Overall, we were impressed with the quality of applicants who attended the screening activity. We had 17 applicants, and each one demonstrated a genuine passion for rugby and a strong commitment to developing young people’s skills and potential. However, we had to narrow down the pool to the best candidates, and we selected those who demonstrated the most potential in coaching rugby and life skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with young people.

The Youth Development Coaches we have selected will work closely with the NYRP leadership team to implement rugby and life skills learning for children aged 11-16 years old. They will receive training and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver our curriculum effectively.

We believe that the quality of our Youth Development Coaches is essential to the success of our program, and we are confident that the coaches we have selected will be able to provide high-quality coaching and mentorship to the young people in our community. We are excited to see the impact our program will have on the lives of young people in Barangay Carmona, Makati, and other barangays and communities in the area, and we invite anyone who is interested in getting involved to reach out to us.
